Position Summary
The Donor Relations Manager plays a pivotal role in Atlas Network’s mission, primarily focusing on the cultivation and expansion of our existing donor relationships. This individual will lead efforts to renew and increase major gifts through strategic planning, personalized outreach, and effective solicitation. They will be responsible for creating compelling content tailored to our existing donors’ interests, aimed at strengthening their commitment and financial support.
Additionally, the Donor Relations Manager will analyze donor data to inform and refine our cultivation strategies, ensuring a targeted approach to donor engagement and retention. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, strategic foresight, and a proven track record in building and nurturing significant donor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Cultivation and Major Gifts Enhancement:
- Develop and implement strategies to increase and renew major gifts from individuals and foundations, focusing on cultivating long-term donor relationships.
- Engage in direct outreach and personalized communication with existing donors to deepen their commitment and encourage increased contributions.
- Collaborate with the Director of Development Operations to set and achieve targeted goals for renewing and upgrading major donor contributions.
- Assist in planning and executing C-Suite donor engagement strategies, including trip planning and high-level outreach.
Targeted Content Development for Donor Engagement:
- Craft compelling fundraising materials tailored to renew and increase commitments from current donors, including targeted proposals, LOIs, and personalized donor updates.
- Develop a donor-centric content strategy in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team, ensuring materials resonate with our donors’ interests and Atlas Network’s mission.
Strategic Project Management for Donor Retention:
- Lead projects that specifically aim to enhance donor retention and increase funding, working closely with development team members.
- Facilitate cross-team initiatives that drive donor engagement, ensuring seamless integration of fundraising objectives across the organization.
Data-Driven Donor Relationship Management:
- Implement and refine data management practices to support effective donor cultivation, tracking progress towards renewal and increased giving targets.
- Analyze donor trends to inform and adjust strategies for donor retention and upgrading, ensuring a data-informed approach to development activities.
- Maintain high standards of data integrity and adherence to fundraising regulations, optimizing our approach to donor management and compliance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, specifically in donor cultivation, major gifts solicitation, and relationship management, demonstrating a successful track record in renewing and increasing donations.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with experience in leading donor-focused projects and cross-functional collaboration.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a talent for crafting persuasive donor communications and engaging major contributors effectively.
- Proficiency in CRM software (Salesforce preferred) and data analysis tools.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving, capable of identifying and seizing opportunities for donor development and engagement.
- Availability for occasional travel to attend donor meetings and events, including annual Regional Liberty Forums. Travel requirements may vary throughout the year (Approximate travel: 20%)
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Location
This position is located at Atlas Network headquarters in Arlington, VA, with the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week after the initial 90-day onboarding period. During the first 90 days, new hires are required to work in-office from Monday through Friday. Following the initial period, the team operates on a hybrid schedule, with employees working in the office on Tuesdays through Thursdays, and remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
