Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Human Resource Manager is the primary steward of the organization’s human resources functions including recruiting, employee relations and benefits. The Manager will help to foster a vibrant organizational culture built upon the organization’s values: mission-driven, courageous, entrepreneurial, results-oriented, and pursuing excellence.
The Manager will be expected to work from the Roundtable’s Washington, DC office at least 3 days a week.
Job Duties:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cultivate and foster a vibrant culture that encourages creative ideas, hard work, and having fun while pursuing our mission and goals;
- Manage the recruitment and selection process through a variety of channels that ensure staff members are aligned with the organization’s vision, mission, guiding principles, and goals;
- Oversee processes related to staff joining or leaving the organization including onboarding, orientation and training, and offboarding;
- Review and update the existing employee handbook to reflect current policies that support the organization’s goals and align with legal requirements;
- Assist in the development of a compensation and bonus structure in conjunction with management;
- Complete regular HR tasks including but not limited to payroll, employee benefits, and administration;
- Manage relationships with HR vendors;
- Manage insurance open enrollment process;
- Ensure compliance with internal policies as well as state and federal laws related to human resources;
- Oversee and manage leave requests;
- Bridge management and employee relations by addressing the needs of the organization and supporting all areas of employee relations;
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, and creation of a staff retention program;
- Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization;
- Nurture a positive working environment;
- Oversee and manage a performance review process as well as performance management throughout the year;
- Maintain pay plan and benefits program and evaluate opportunities for optimization;
- Assess staff development needs and create/recommend trainings as needed;
- Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
Requirements:
- Four or more years of professional experience in human resources
- Support the guiding principles, mission, and vision of the Roundtable
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting and retaining top talent
- Successful track record of handling delicate, sensitive, and confidential information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High standard of honesty and strong ethical standards
- Exceptionally organized with an ability to manage the details of multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines
- Versatility to be both a self-starter who takes initiative and a collaborative team player
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Teams
Preferences:
- Skills in mediation
- Experience using platforms such as Rippling and Salesforce
- HR certifications such as PHR or SHRM-CP
Travel: Less than 5 percent of time.
