The Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF) is a national non-profit organization based in New York City that works to advance educational freedom for all children. For more than 25 years, CSF has provided children of low-income families with tuition assistance in grades K-8, while working to expand educational opportunities through education savings account programs and education tax credit programs at the state and national level. CSF relies on financial support from generous individuals, corporations, and foundations nationwide to fund our scholarships and operations. We are seeking a Donor Engagement Coordinator to join our New York City-based team who shares our passion for empowering all parents to choose how best to meet their children’s education needs.
About the Role
The Donor Engagement Coordinator will work full-time, in-person, at our Midtown Manhattan office, joining a small, passionate, creative, and talented team operating in an office culture characterized by high standards and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate for this position is philosophically committed to ensuring that all parents have the ability to choose how best to educate their children, and is a focused, detail-oriented, motivated, and dynamic individual with excellent computer, office, and communication skills and strong work ethic. This role will report to the Vice President, Strategic Planning & Development 80% of the time while reporting to the President and the Chief Financial Officer 10% of the time to each respectively.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain donor database, including data and gift entry in Raiser’s Edge, processing written donor acknowledgements, following up on returned mail and address/contact information updates, managing recurring gifts, running change of address inquiries, and running queries and reports as needed.
- Assist in managing donor cultivation and renewal processes, with an eye toward effective stewardship and retention.
- Assist with management of planned giving program.
- Maintain donor files and internal systems to track, monitor and report on all aspects of fundraising operations and comply with record retention policies.
- Assist with drafting and coordinating the production and mailing of donor communications, including but not limited to appeal letters, correspondence, updates to donors, Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day mailings, acknowledgment letters, planned giving program communications, meeting requests, donor packets, meeting and travel research/arrangements, and foundation reports.
- Coordinate biweekly development meetings, manage renewal lists and retention processes and maintain trip and meeting calendars.
- Manage events and assist with logistics of meetings/activities of the CSF Board, President’s Council, and Young Leaders Board.
- Assist CSF’s President, Vice President of Strategic Planning & Development, and Chief Financial Officer with general day-to-day operations including scheduling, mail, filing and administrative matters.
- Assist in preparing development budgets each year, and coordinate annual renewals of subscriptions and other fundraising tools.
- Process all donations, and prepare and make bank deposits and maintain proper records.
- This position also is responsible for some office management duties including managing office postage and shipping responsibilities, processes, and supplies; assisting in the process of vendor invoices; and ordering and maintaining office supplies.

Qualifications and Skills
- 2+ years of professional office experience preferred
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required; Photoshop and InDesign a plus
- Excitement for and alignment with the mission of CSF
- Strong proofreading and writing skills
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple ongoing projects with close attention to detail, among staff on-site and at remote locations
- High level of productivity with demonstrated follow-through and success in managing multiple ongoing projects and tracking progress against specific and measurable goals
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Attentive to providing timely updates that keep immediate supervisor and team members aware of communications and activities that could impact the team’s ability to meet and exceed its goals
- Highly organized and results-driven with a desire to create and manage systems and schedules to help themselves and the development and finance teams efficiently and effectively meet their goals
- High level of enthusiasm, energy, reliability, and productivity with demonstrated follow-through and success in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Willingness to be flexible and provide assistance where needed to help the overall organization accomplish its goals
- Proactive problem solver and a self-starter with the ability to work individually and on a team
- Flexibility to pitch in and help on special projects as needed
- Ability to travel occasionally (less than 5%) and also attend evening events as needed
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Compensation
The projected salary range for this role is $50,000-$60,000, but is contingent upon the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.
