The Job:
WILL is looking to add a talented Associate Counsel to join our highly successful litigation team. As an Associate Counsel you will litigate cutting-edge constitutional law matters in state and federal court. You will develop and manage your own caseload under the supervision and guidance of our deputy counsels, handling all aspects of litigation from client development through final appeal. WILL attorneys make a real difference in the fight for freedom every day, and this position will put you on our front lines. The Buckley Institute seeks an experienced self-starter passionate about the mission of the organization to serve as Programs Associate. The Programs Associate will work closely with (and report to) the Director of Programs to plan, execute, and refine the Buckley Institute’s varied and quality programs. Buckley is growing quickly as the campus culture at Yale begins to respond; this position allows a candidate to diversify their experience with programs and events on the leading edge of the free speech movement. The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable organization whose mission is to eliminate compulsory unionism abuses through strategic litigation and public information programs.

The Right to Work principle affirms the right of every American to earn a living without being forced to belong to a union. Despite this principle, millions of workers are compelled to associate with unions to keep their jobs.

Since 1968, the Foundation has provided free legal aid to individual workers to enforce and expand their rights against compulsory unionism. To this end, Foundation attorneys have long been at the forefront of litigating key cases involving the First Amendment, labor law, administrative law, and religious liberties. This includes litigating nearly every major Supreme Court case on compulsory unionism.

Position Overview
Foundation staff attorneys represent individual workers in cases against governments, unions, and employers that concern compulsory unionism. The role primarily involves acting as a litigator in federal courts and before administrative agencies like the National Labor Relations Board and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. We provide consulting and recruiting services at no cost to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations that clearly and directly focus on advancing the principles of economic freedom, free enterprise, free trade, free speech, property rights, rule of law, and limited regulation. (We do not work with political organizations, organizations with mission statements that do not clearly advance free-market principles, organizations that focus on social issues, or organizations that have a focus outside of the United States. We are not a job board. )
