About the Role
Libertas Institute is seeking an entrepreneurial grants officer to cultivate new relationships with aligned philanthropic foundations.The primary focus will be to help increase funding for our policy initiatives both in Utah as well as nationally.
This is a full-time position either in our Lehi, UT office (hybrid) or remote. The Grants Officer will report to our Vice President of Partnerships.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing your own portfolio of foundations and granting organizations
- Writing engaging grant proposals and LOIs
- Tracking and reporting on measurables from a wide variety of grants Libertas has received
- Producing reports on impact and outcomes for past grantees
- Locating and approaching national, state-based, and local foundations who would take an interest in our policy work
- Periodic virtual and on-site meetings with potential and existing foundations
- Gaining a well-rounded knowledge of all the policy reforms and education initiatives that Libertas engages in
You will bring to the role the following competencies:
- 2+ years experience in fundraising
- 3+ years experience in writing professionally
- Efficient, persuasive writing of a high standard
- Very high level of organizational detail
- Tenacious follow-up and proactiveness
- Clear communication skills
- Flexibility/adaptability
- Above average networking skills
- Strong interest in and alignment with our organization’s work
- (Optional but preferred) Background in using a CRM such as HubSpot

Expectations
30 Days:
- Familiarize yourself with our organization, our various projects (in particular our policy portfolio), and our current foundations work
- Identify and research 50 new foundations
90 Days:
- Identify and research a total of 200 new foundations
- Send out 25 LOIs
1 Year
- Secure $500,000 in new grants
