The American Consumer Institute (ACI) is a nonprofit think tank dedicated to promoting consumer welfare through research and advocacy. Our work covers a broad range of issues, including technology, finance, healthcare, and regulatory reform.
Position Summary
ACI is seeking a Communications Associate to support content creation, grant writing, and outreach efforts. This role will focus on developing persuasive messaging for donor communications, press outreach, and policy engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills and the ability to tailor messages for different audiences, including policymakers, the media, and funders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead ACI’s efforts in digital communications.
- Develop and distribute press releases, newsletters, ads, and social media content.
- Serve as a point of contact for media and external vendors
- Help maintain ACI’s brand identity and ensure consistent messaging across platforms.
- Collaborate with policy analysts to translate research into compelling narratives for public consumption.
- Assist in drafting grant proposals, donor reports, and fundraising materials.
- Other relevant tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public policy, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in communications, writing, or media relations.
- Strong writing, editing, and design skills, with attention to detail and the ability to craft persuasive and accessible content.
- Experience with MailChimp or another email marketing platform is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with think tanks is a plus.
Location & Compensation
- This position will work from ACI’s Arlington, VA office at least two days a week. ACI will consider a fully virtual arrangement within the DC metro area based on the candidate.
- Competitive salary of $60,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience and skill.
- Candidates with additional experience may be considered for a higher-level title and salary, depending on qualifications.
