About the American Consumer Institute (ACI)
The American Consumer Institute (ACI) is a nonprofit think tank dedicated to promoting consumer welfare through evidence-based research and advocacy. We work to ensure public policies and regulations enhance, rather than hinder, consumer access to affordable goods and services.
Position Summary
ACI is seeking a Technology Policy Analyst to contribute to research and advocacy on emerging tech policy issues. This role will focus on topics such as artificial intelligence, broadband access, competition policy, social media, the gig economy and data privacy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of technology policy, market dynamics, and the regulatory landscape.
ACI has a strong preference for candidates who are based in, or able to relocate to Washington, but hybrid or virtual arrangements may be possible for exceptional candidates. The Analyst will report to ACI’s Director of Technology Policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and write policy papers, op-eds, and blog posts on tech-related issues.
- Analyze legislative and regulatory developments impacting consumer access to technology.
- Engage with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the media to advance ACI’s positions.
- Represent ACI at conferences, panel discussions, and public forums.
- Other relevant tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years of experience in policy analysis, research, or a related role. Will accept education and intern experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, public policy, law, or a related field.
- Strong writing and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues for a broad audience.
- Knowledge of telecom policy, AI regulation, digital competition, and/or cybersecurity is a plus.

- Competitive salary: $60k-65k
