About the Role
Liberty Justice Center is seeking a paralegal with three or more years of litigation experience to join our team of lawyers who fight to advance liberty and protect constitutional rights.
The role will report to Senior Counsel. This position is fully remote and can be based virtually anywhere in the U.S.
Paralegals are responsible for:
- Knowing and understanding federal, state, and local rules and ensuring they are followed for each case.
- Preparing trial notebooks and exhibits.
- Organizing, indexing, and summarizing discovery materials; document numbering (“Bates” stamping).
- Monitoring the status of legislation and administrative rules at the state and federal levels.
- Monitoring case status via PACER and keeping an up-to-date internal case calendar.
- Performing legal research using Lexis.
- Checking citations in briefs and other legal documents to determine the accuracy of quoted material and ensuring compliance with the Bluebook or other citation guidelines.
- Maintaining case file information.
- Assisting with special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of litigation experience.
- Paralegal certification or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Dedication to advancing Liberty Justice Center’s mission of protecting individual rights and enforcing limits on government power through litigation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment and actively contribute to a culture of innovation and initiative.
- Deep understanding and commitment to the organization’s mission and litigation approach.
