About EPIC and the Role
The Economic Policy Innovation Center (EPIC) is hiring a Tax Policy Analyst.
EPIC develops and promotes economic policy to advance a free and prosperous America. We achieve this through original research to inform practical policy solutions, providing federal policymakers with the information they need to promote growth and opportunity for all Americans.
The Tax Policy Analyst will have the opportunity to join a dynamic policy organization and make an impact through research, writing, and working with lawmakers and other policy experts. This role will be primarily in-person at our Capitol Hill offices and report to the Director of Budget Policy.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Tax Policy Analyst will:
- Be a leading voice in the discussion about the next steps for pro-growth tax reform.
- Be a thought leader on all tax policy issues.
- Author short issue briefs, research papers, op-eds, and other articles and blog posts.
- Develop and drive novel policy proposals, and provide technical and other analysis on other legislative concepts.
- Conduct outreach to Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and other policymakers, including testifying before Congressional committees.
- Collaborate with the tax policy community and coalition partners.
- Appear in media and be a reliable source for expert commentary.
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience, with demonstrated expertise in tax policy issues.
- A deep understanding of the theory and economics of taxation, not just knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code. An ability to articulate a vision of the least destructive system of taxation, and an understanding of prudent steps necessary to move in that direction.
- Quantitative research skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally.
- Capacity to handle multiple projects in an active environment with a small but growing team.
- A belief in free markets, limited government, and a faith in the capacity and ingenuity of the American people.
Salary
The projected salary range for this role is $85,000-90,000, contingent upon the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate. We are also willing to explore higher compensation for an exceptional candidate or a lower range for a promising, less experienced candidate.
