Digital Director – Young America’s Foundation – Reston, VA

Mission: Young America’s Foundation (YAF) is committed to ensuring that increasing numbers of young Americans understand and are inspired by the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise, and traditional values.

YAF is the principal outreach organization of the Conservative Movement, introducing thousands of young people to conservative ideas in person through our national conferences, campus lectures, activism programs, internships, and seminars at our national headquarters, the Reagan Ranch, Reagan Boyhood Home, and Reagan Ranch Center while reaching an online audience of millions.

This is a full-time, in-person role based in Reston, VA., reporting to the Chief Communications Officer.

Job Summary: YAF has an immediate opening for a digital director to grow YAF’s online audience and promote YAF’s mission and programs across digital media. The ideal digital director will help develop effective online marketing strategies and online coverage of YAF programs, including:

  • Conferences and seminars at the Reagan Ranch Center, Reagan Boyhood Home, YAF’s National Headquarters and Capitol Hill Townhouse, and around the country
  • Campus lectures and activism projects nationwide
  • Special events as required

The digital director will work daily with YAF’s communications team to strategically promote key events and build day-to-day narratives. The digital director will highlight YAF’s involvement in promoting conservative ideas to young people and showcase our leadership in this field. The strategy pursued should enhance YAF’s brand(s) and increase student, supporter, and ally involvement and awareness by providing oversight across the following projects and digital properties:

  • Creating content for and managing YAF and its brands’ Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube accounts
  • Building and maintaining relevant email lists and marketing flows within YAF’s HubSpot CRM
  • Developing digital ads and marketing strategies to recruit for YAF programs
  • Implementing plans to increase YAF’s online audience
  • Managing YAF’s current communications team members working in social media

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and managing YAF’s social media staff, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development
  • Implementing a YAF-wide digital strategy to ensure maximum positive YAF exposure
  • Directing and overseeing the creation of social media posts, developing strategies to market and recruit for YAF programs, and writing email communications to students, supporters, and key allies in the Conservative Movement
  • Growing and maintaining the YAF’s online reach by enacting an aggressive, consistent posting schedule with varying content types
  • Utilizing original stories and news posted to The New Guard to drive traffic to YAF.org and our blog, in addition to building the YAF’s presence on X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc
  • Using digital media to promote and recruit for all YAF student conferences and seminars.
  • Training and advising students on how to use digital media to promote their YAF campus events
  • Staying informed of current digital trends in the Conservative Movement and the larger business community
  • Working at/on and helping organize YAF programs, ensuring digital coverage of events is high quality, engaging, and motivating
  • Ensuring digital coverage of selected key campus lectures
  • Interacting with students, friends, and supporters at YAF programs and events
  • Collaborating with vendors to ensure consistent, on-brand content across digital media assets
  • Conducting consistent optimization and analysis to improve content and marketing strategies
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Skills include:

  • At least two years of experience in communications, digital media, marketing, or similar
  • Committed to and enthusiastic about YAF’s mission and programs; prior involvement with YAF is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to communications and marketing.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and prominent social and digital media tools or outlets, including but not limited to Sprout Social, HubSpot, YouTube, Facebook Business Manager, and X
  • Grasp of promotional and marketing strategies and concepts
  • Experience with graphic design and video and/or audio production a plus
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to comply with YAF policies, procedures, and practices
  • Ability to work as a collaborative, constructive team member and independently
