Technology Policy Analyst – American Consumer Institute – Washington, DC or Virtual

March 5, 2025

About the American Consumer Institute (ACI)
The American Consumer Institute (ACI) is a nonprofit think tank dedicated to promoting consumer welfare through evidence-based research and advocacy. We work to ensure public policies and regulations enhance, rather than hinder, consumer access to affordable goods and services.

Position Summary
ACI is seeking a Technology Policy Analyst to contribute to research and advocacy on emerging tech policy issues. This role will focus on topics such as artificial intelligence, broadband access, competition policy, social media, the gig economy and data privacy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of technology policy, market dynamics, and the regulatory landscape.

ACI has a strong preference for candidates who are based in, or able to relocate to Washington, but hybrid or virtual arrangements may be possible for exceptional candidates. The Analyst will report to ACI’s Director of Technology Policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and write policy papers, op-eds, and blog posts on tech-related issues.
  • Analyze legislative and regulatory developments impacting consumer access to technology.
  • Engage with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the media to advance ACI’s positions.
  • Represent ACI at conferences, panel discussions, and public forums.
  • Other relevant tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in policy analysis, research, or a related role. Will accept education and intern experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, public policy, law, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues for a broad audience.
  • Knowledge of telecom policy, AI regulation, digital competition, and/or cybersecurity is a plus.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary: $60k-65k
  • Benefits
    • Fully covered premium for health, vision, dental, and disability insurance
    • 401k with employer contributions

How to Apply
To apply, qualified individuals should submit the following application materials in one PDF document:

  • Cover letter including:
    • An introductory paragraph describing three distinct reasons you are drawn to ACI’s mission and how you came to those beliefs. Be sure to include at least one specific area of technology policy that resonates with you.
    • Salary requirements
  • Resume

Applications should be submitted to Talent Market via this link: talentmarket.org/apply-for-your-dream-job/.

Questions can be directed to Stephanie Keaveney, Senior Manager of Outreach at Talent Market, who is managing the search process: [email protected].

There is no application deadline for this position. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. This job will remain posted on our site until it is filled.

While we thank all applicants in advance for their interest in this position, we are only able to contact those to whom we can offer an interview. Only direct applications will be considered. No phone calls, please.

Wait, You’re a Nonprofit?

Talent Market is a nonprofit. We’ll wait here while that sinks in. We know it’s a crazy concept, but it’s been working like a charm since 2009.

Talent Market’s mission is to promote liberty by providing talent for critical roles within the free-market nonprofit sector.

We provide consulting and recruiting services at no cost to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations that clearly and directly focus on advancing the principles of economic freedom, free enterprise, free trade, free speech, property rights, rule of law, and limited regulation. (We do not work with political organizations, organizations with mission statements that do not clearly advance free-market principles, organizations that focus on social issues, or organizations that have a focus outside of the United States. We are not a job board. )

Talent Market believes that the road to prosperity is paved with freedom and that the success of our movement hinges on the talent that will take us there.
