About the Role
The Legal Program Staff Attorney will work closely with the Vice President of Legal Programs to develop and implement strategic planning for the organization’s legal programs and identify and prioritize new potential legal challenges. This requires keeping the VP informed of new opportunities and developments, which includes preparing analyses of potential opportunities based on independent research and impact assessment as well as monitoring court decisions, legislation, regulatory changes, and other developments that may create legal opportunities and/or affect existing plans/strategy.
As directed, the Staff Attorney will draft administrative letters, complaints, regulatory proposals or comments, and other needed submissions and materials.
The Staff Attorney will also help maintain the department’s centralized tracking and file management system; assist with department updates and case development and management, including communicating with standing members and plaintiffs; and support cross-team coordination, including coordinating with the VP to advise on inquiries, initiatives, and projects relating to legal programs casework.
The position will take the lead on, and be responsible for, discrete matters and tasks for the department as directed.
This is a full-time role that can be executed from a virtual office anywhere within the United States. The Staff Attorney reports to the Vice President of Legal Programs. Do No Harm is open to candidates across a broad range of experience levels, from exceptional recent law school graduates and early-career attorneys to more experienced litigators. The scope of responsibilities will be adjusted to the successful candidate’s experience.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and an active bar membership in good standing.
- Ideal candidates will have at least two years of litigation experience in a law firm setting, though candidates at other experience levels are encouraged to apply.
- Relevant experience in public interest work is also preferred.

Compensation
The anticipated salary range is $100,000 to $155,000, depending on experience. Exceptional recent graduates and first-year attorneys may be considered in the $100,000 to $115,000 range. Candidates with approximately two years of relevant experience can expect a starting salary around $125,000, with higher compensation available for more experienced candidates.
Compensation package includes health (company-paid medical), retirement, flexible vacation, and sick days. Flexible work environment and schedule.
