About American Majority

We are the nation’s premier conservative training organization, helping put in place a truly unique, separate political infrastructure—for use before, during and after election dates. As a 501c(3) non-partisan, nonprofit, American Majority continually trains, organizes, mobilizes, and equips new grassroots conservative leaders. About the Opportunity

This role will be the second-in-command for a well-known national grassroots organization with a very good reputation that has nearly a twenty year record of great work in the field with activists and future leaders.

The COO will work from the Purcellville, VA office Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will also consider truly exceptional candidates who want to work virtually. Virtual candidates will need to visit the headquarters approximately two times each month.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations and keep the CEO apprised of significant events
    • Free CEO for major donor fundraising and public relations activities
    • Streamline operations to create efficiency and ID weak spots, chokepoints
    • Senior managers report to COO
  • Oversee 30 staff members in total. With six state offices and corresponding Executive Directors, and a national senior team of five with the COO included, there will be 8 direct reports to the COO with him or her directly reporting to the CEO and the board.
  • Create operations strategies, fundraising, goals and policies in conjunction with CEO/CFO
    • Corporate planning with Board of Directors
    • Identify key issues
    • Fiscal planning and oversight
  • Communicate strategy and policy to employees
    • Stem potential power struggles and confusion
    • Reach consensus on goals, strategies and direction
  • Foster employee alignment with goals for the overall organization
    • Evaluate performance against established benchmarks and goals
  • Oversee human resource management
    • Policy review and enforcement
    • Hire and fire responsibilities on some levels after consultation with CEO
    • Identify and nurture in-house talent

Qualifications

    • 10+ years of relevant experience in grassroots, management of remote staff, and a good grasp on policy issues
    • Must have experience in politics and able to manage significant field operations
    • Must be comfortable speaking in public and conducting trainings as needed (rare but pinch hit if need be)
    • Must be willing to travel to various state offices (approximate travel: 5%)
    • Demonstrated ability to earn and maintain the trust and confidence of colleagues, leadership, and external stakeholders

Salary and Benefits
The target salary range for this role is $180,000 – $210,000 annually. American Majority offers a generous benefits plan including health, dental, vision, and a 401k plan.
