The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) is unlike any place you will ever work. We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit law and policy center that serves as the vanguard in the fight against government overreach. Through litigation, education, and participation in public discourse, we defend individual liberty, stand up to rogue bureaucrats, and hold government actors at all levels accountable to the law. The Job:
WILL is looking to add a talented Associate Counsel to join our highly successful litigation team. As an Associate Counsel you will litigate cutting-edge constitutional law matters in state and federal court. You will develop and manage your own caseload under the supervision and guidance of our deputy counsels, handling all aspects of litigation from client development through final appeal. WILL attorneys make a real difference in the fight for freedom every day, and this position will put you on our front lines. We represent all our clients 100% pro bono and pick our own cases to advance WILL’s mission. No other job provides similar opportunities for a conservative lawyer.
The Associate Counsel will ideally be based in WILL’s Milwaukee, WI office. Exceptional candidates outside the area may be considered for a fully remote arrangement, provided they can travel to Milwaukee for in-person work at least every other month.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to either the State Bar of Wisconsin or another state with eligibility to become admitted in Wisconsin
- 1-5 years of legal experience, ideally in direct litigation (clerkships or fellowships may count toward this requirement)
- Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Ability to craft persuasive arguments
- Deep commitment to WILL’s mission and passionate about defending individual liberty and opposing government overreach
- Detail oriented, hardworking, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
