About the Director of Foundation Strategy opening:
SPN is seeking a motivated and experienced fundraiser to join our Development team. This person will craft proposals and reports tailored to SPN’s foundation donors to connect the work we are doing to their philanthropic interests and will be a central driver of moves management and donor strategy for our foundation donors. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about developing tailored communications to foundation donors and who is dedicated to promoting a free and prosperous society.
This role reports to the Director of Foundation Relations and includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits. SPN staff work remotely across the country, and this position is eligible to work from a virtual office anywhere in the United States.
Main Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy:
- Work with the Director of Foundation Relations to develop and implement a comprehensive foundation fundraising strategy that aligns with the SPN’s goals
- Develop comprehensive moves plans for foundation donor portfolio utilizing a mix of communications, events, and donor meetings to engage in a way that fits each donor’s needs and interests
- Manage ongoing communication and engagement with foundation partners, ensuring regular updates, reports, and stewardship activities
- Monitor progress towards fundraising goals and outcomes of donor interactions to regularly adjust strategies as necessary
- Provide input into the annual budgeting process, setting targets for foundation grants and revenue and identifying opportunities for deepening engagement with donors
Grant Writing, Proposal Development, and Reporting:
- Research and identify funding opportunities that align with our programs and projects
- Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals, applications, and reports, highlighting the impact and outcomes of SPN’s work
- Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, reporting deadlines, and deliverables
- Collaborate with program managers to gather information for grant proposals and reports
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in foundation fundraising or development, preferably in a non-profit or policy organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of successful grant writing and proposal development
- Strong understanding of donor interests and a toolkit for engaging foundation representatives around their goals and interests
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Commitment to and passion for free market principles and federalism
- Availability to travel quarterly for staff meetings, retreats, and SPN’s Annual Meeting
- Salesforce experience is preferred but not required
