About the Role
NCLA is seeking a Development Assistant to assist the Development team by managing the development database, researching prospects, and providing overall support for our fundraising efforts. We are seeking a highly organized, discreet and detail-oriented person who supports NCLA’s important mission and has relevant experience working with Salesforce and/or is eager to learn about fundraising.
The Development Assistant will report to the Associate Director of Development and will be expected to work from our Arlington, VA office 4 days a week with the option to work remotely 1 day a week.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Comfortable making suggestions and taking the initiative to improve processes
- Pro-active and collaborative
Responsibilities
- Maintain our donor database (Salesforce) including gift entry, updating contact information, running reports as needed, and ensuring that information and records are updated and maintained
- Prospecting donors—researching current and prospective donors and working with the Development team on outreach strategy and meeting preparation
- Processing and mailing gift acknowledgments and other mailed or emailed materials.
- Providing support to the entire Development team as well as the President and CEO in their fundraising duties
- Assisting with donor events including gala planning
- Maintaining donor privacy at all times
Requirements
- 0-3+ years of non-profit work experience, preferably in development and/or fundraising
- Experience with a CRM, especially Salesforce, is a plus
- Ability to travel, up to 15%, is a plus
- Alignment with NCLA’s mission
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
Compensation
The projected salary range for this role is $45,000-$55,000, depending on skills and experience.
