About the Role:
Do No Harm is scaling at an exponential rate – our generous philanthropic partners make it possible to set (and surpass) audacious annual fundraising goals. We’re moving forward with incredible momentum and on track for another record-breaking year. In response to this growth, we’re seeking an ambitious, talented fundraising professional to join our successful development team.

The Development Officer will report to the Chief Development Officer and play a critical role in supporting the organization’s fundraising efforts. This role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, CRM experience, and a background in donor-centered fundraising. This individual must embrace the mission of Do No Harm and be passionate about building and cultivating relationships with new and existing donors.

This individual will have the enthusiastic support of the organization’s leadership and consultants who are equally passionate and committed to fostering strategic relationships with our members and external supporters.

This is a full-time role based in a virtual office, with frequent travel to donor meetings, events, and various conferences required throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management: Develop and carry out a fundraising strategy for a portfolio of current and prospective donors, focusing on the identification, solicitation, and cultivation of gifts. This includes tracking giving history, engagement levels, and progress through the donor pipeline.
  • Donor Communications and Relationship Management: Develop and execute regular, tailored, strategic donor and prospect interactions for the purposes of relationship cultivation and gift stewardship. This includes, but is not limited to, writing thank you notes, attending in-person and virtual meetings, making phone calls, and attending events.
  • Prospect Identification and Research: Identify prospective donors with affinity and capacity to support our mission, including individual and foundation sources.
  • Metrics and Database Management: Produce performance metrics and add data into Salesforce to maintain accurate donor and reporting information, working with the larger development team and vendors as necessary to customize your user experience.
  • Reporting and Accountability Measures: Participate in weekly virtual meetings to report progress on efforts to secure support from prospects and renewals from current donors. Submit weekly written reports to update the Development Director on progress over the past week and the status of outstanding assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of fundraising experience with proven track record of success in closing gifts and relationship management
  • Experience analyzing data and metrics to establish and inform goals
  • CRM experience (Salesforce preferred, not required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills
  • Ability to:
    • Work with minimum supervision and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
    • Work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
    • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Firm belief in equality before the law
  • Sound understanding of major policy issues within Do No Harm’s mission and scope
  • Ability to travel at least 45-50%
  • Bachelor’s degree

Salary
Commensurate with experience. Compensation package includes health (company-paid medical), retirement, flexible vacation, and sick days. Flexible work environment and schedule.
