About Do No Harm
Do No Harm is an award-winning nonprofit focused on keeping identity politics out of medical education, research and clinical practice. Do No Harm seeks to stop divisive trends in medicine, such as “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” and youth-focused gender ideology. With more than 50,000 members, including physicians, nurses, medical students, patients, and policymakers, Do No Harm is setting the standard for principles-driven policy change in the world of health care.
About the Role
Do No Harm is seeking an experienced Director of Policy to join our organization. This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated individual with outstanding analytical skills to refine our policy initiatives. If you want to change the world for the better with concrete policy solutions you help design, this position could be for you.
The Director of Policy will report to the Chief Strategy Officer to craft positive change through legislative and regulatory reforms at the state and federal levels. The ideal candidate will be able to dive into complex policy issues, identify leverage for solving problems, and generate clearly defined answers that are legally defensible and within the Overton Window.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Scrutinize federal, state, and local public policies to evaluate their intended and unintended consequences;
- Develop proactive, data-driven policy solutions to combat the influx of discriminatory and divisive ideologies in medicine;
- Create useful and consumable policy products for use with a variety of audiences, including policy papers, “how to” memos, model language and official public comments; and
- Testify on issues in front of government entities as requested.
This full-time position is remotely based with 15-percent domestic travel expected.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of public policy experience in a think tank, government agency, law firm, public relations firm, news or policy publication, or educational or healthcare institution (specific medical or healthcare policy experience is helpful but not required);
- Exceptional comprehension of the legal and regulatory sector;
- Strong critical thinking skills with an ability to process complex data sets;
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent time-management skills to meet tight deadlines;
- Work with minimal supervision and handle multiple priorities simultaneously;
- Work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment;
- Ability to maintain strict confidence and confidentiality of information;
- A firm belief in a patient-centered healthcare system free from identity politics; and
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in law, public policy, economics, political science, medicine or similar field, preferred but not required.
Salary
Commensurate with experience. Compensation package includes health insurance, with Do No Harm covering a generous portion of the premium, and retirement benefits. Flexible work environment and schedule.
