Position Overview
The Kovner Foundation seeks a Director of Grants and Administration to oversee the full lifecycle of the Foundation’s grantmaking and support day-to-day operations. This role is responsible for ensuring a thoughtful, well-run grant process and strong execution across administrative functions. The Director will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Foundation leadership, and external partners to support the Foundation’s priorities in education, Jewish affairs, the arts, and the Kovner Opportunity Scholarship program.

This is a unique opportunity to join a small, high-performing foundation at an important stage in its development. The Director will have meaningful exposure to Foundation leadership and the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of philanthropic priorities while helping shape and strengthen the systems, processes, and practices that support the Foundation’s work. The role offers an unusual combination of substantive grantmaking, programmatic engagement, and organizational responsibility, with the ability to make a meaningful contribution across the Foundation.

The Director of Grants and Administration will report to the COO and work from the Foundation’s Jupiter, FL office.

Key Responsibilities

Grantmaking Management

  • Lead the annual grant cycle, including timelines, materials, and communications with grantees
  • Oversee proposal intake, review processes, and preparation of internal summaries
  • Coordinate due diligence and ensure consistency and quality across all recommendations
  • Draft grant agreements and manage execution in coordination with legal counsel
  • Track grant payments, reporting requirements, and compliance
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for grantees and maintain strong relationships

Kovner Opportunity Scholarship Program

  • Support the administration and ongoing development of the Kovner Opportunity Scholarship (KOS) program
  • Coordinate engagement with scholars and partner schools, including communications, events, and site visits
  • Help plan and execute scholar gatherings and related programming
  • Maintain strong relationships with participating schools and key stakeholders
  • Track scholar participation and support program logistics and follow-up

Administration & Operations

  • Oversee core administrative functions to support the Foundation’s work
  • Manage Board and committee meeting logistics, materials, and follow-up
  • Maintain organized records of grants, contracts, and key documents
  • Support budgeting and tracking of grant commitments in coordination with finance
  • Ensure smooth coordination across Foundation activities and priorities

Strategic Support

  • Partner with the COO on planning and implementation of Foundation initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and efficiency
  • Provide clear, concise materials to inform leadership decision-making

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in philanthropy, nonprofit management, or a related field
  • Understanding of and philosophical alignment with The Kovner Foundation’s mission
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational ability
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Experience supporting senior leadership and/or a Board preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Work Arrangements

  • Full-time exempt position based in Jupiter, FL
  • On-site work arrangement with occasional flexibility
  • Occasional (less than 5%!) travel required for site visits and KOS program events
  • Relocation support available for exceptional candidates

  • Anticipated salary range: $125,000 to $175,000, depending on experience and skills
