About Us:
The Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) is a nonprofit newsroom producing high-impact journalism focused on politics, policy, and culture.
We are seeking a Video Media Manager to lead and grow our short-form video operation. This D.C.-based position requires a hands-on leader who can manage a small video production team, edit videos themselves, and oversee fast-paced, soundbite-driven reporting from Capitol Hill and other events in the D.C. area.
The ideal candidate is a strong video editor, a creative storyteller, and a proactive manager who thrives in a fast-moving, news-driven environment. This person will play a key role in shaping DCNF’s video presence on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and X.
The Video Media Manager will report to the President and will oversee a team of 5 direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise a small video team of three video editors and manage two Capitol Hill reporters focused on quick-turn soundbite interviews.
- Story Assignment: Assign timely, compelling topics and storylines to the video team based on the news cycle and editorial priorities.
- Social Media Posting: Oversee the publishing of completed video content to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms with engaging captions and headlines.
- Field Oversight: Coordinate video coverage of live D.C.-based events, protests, and hearings for maximum impact.
- Strategy: Collaborate with the editorial team to refine video strategy and grow audience engagement.
- Video Editing: Edit short-form videos (including vertical formats) for use across social media platforms.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in social media management, video/broadcast, digital media, or a related field
- Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent)
- Ability to travel on occasion is a plus
- Strong understanding of how to optimize content for social media platforms
- Experience managing small teams in a newsroom or digital media environment
- Excellent news judgment and ability to respond quickly to breaking stories
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
- Familiarity with Capitol Hill and political news is a plus
- Commitment to DCNF’s mission and an interest in political journalism
Compensation:
The projected salary range for this role is $70,000-90,000, depending on skills and experience.
