CEO – MediaPedia – Virtual

July 7, 2025

About the Organization

MediaPedia, operating as a DBA of American Independent Media, is a nonprofit dedicated to exposing media bias and empowering Americans to seek truth without gatekeepers. Launched in January 2025, MediaPedia is building the largest, most transparent database of media outlets, journalists, and editorial influencers in the country—functioning like an IMDb for the news industry.

MediaPedia was created in response to the growing dominance of ideologically driven media watchdogs like NewsGuard and Ad Fontes, whose influence shapes which voices are amplified—and which are silenced. Through its proprietary MediaPedia Rating System (MRS), the organization provides the tools Americans need to assess the objectivity and transparency of the news they consume.

As a project of American Independent Media, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, MediaPedia is backed by a commitment to advancing viewpoint diversity, civil discourse, and the foundational values of a free society.

We are now seeking an entrepreneurial and mission-driven CEO to lead MediaPedia through its growth stage, scale its reach, and secure the resources needed to make media transparency a national priority.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Serve as the strategic and operational leader of MediaPedia, working under the umbrella of American Independent Media.
  • Cultivate a mission-driven, high-performance culture that reflects the organization’s core values.
  • Oversee staff, contractors, and day-to-day execution of MediaPedia’s programs and priorities.

Fundraising & Development

  • Lead all fundraising efforts, with a strong focus on major donors and institutional funders aligned with MediaPedia’s mission.
  • Develop and implement a multi-year development strategy to support long-term sustainability.
  • Steward relationships with new and existing funders through regular communication and strategic engagement.

Strategic Growth & Public Engagement

  • Oversee the continued buildout of the MediaPedia Rating System and the expansion of MediaPedia’s journalist and outlet database.
  • Position MediaPedia as a nationally recognized media accountability platform through earned media, op-eds, podcasts, and public speaking.
  • Launch new content, tools, and engagement strategies to grow MediaPedia’s visibility and user base.

Governance & Compliance

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors of American Independent Media to report on impact, strategy, and fiscal oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and financial requirements related to nonprofit governance.
  • Support the broader goals of American Independent Media while maintaining the distinct brand and mission of MediaPedia.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the nonprofit, media, or other relevant sector.
  • Significant experience in nonprofit or startup leadership, ideally as an Executive Director, CEO, or founding leader.
  • Media experience preferred, whether through direct work in the media or indirect engagement with media professionals.
  • Fundraising experience preferred.
  • Deep understanding of and alignment with MediaPedia’s mission, including media accountability, transparency, and civil liberties.
  • Strong public communication skills and experience serving as a public spokesperson or thought leader.
  • Comfort operating in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, early-stage environment with high expectations and lean infrastructure.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10-15% of the time.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience building or scaling issue-based platforms, research databases, or advocacy tools.
  • Familiarity with the news and media ecosystem, especially around issues of bias, censorship, and journalistic ethics.
  • Background in donor network engagement, particularly within liberty-minded or free expression-focused philanthropic circles.

To Apply

Qualified candidates should submit the following application materials (in order) in one PDF document:

  • Cover letter including:
    • Your interest in MediaPedia’s mission
    • An overview of your leadership, media, and fundraising experience
    • Salary requirements
    • Resume

Wait, You’re a Nonprofit?

Talent Market is a nonprofit. We’ll wait here while that sinks in. We know it’s a crazy concept, but it’s been working like a charm since 2009.

Talent Market’s mission is to promote liberty by providing talent for critical roles within the free-market nonprofit sector.

We provide consulting and recruiting services at no cost to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations that clearly and directly focus on advancing the principles of economic freedom, free enterprise, free trade, free speech, property rights, rule of law, and limited regulation. (We do not work with political organizations, organizations with mission statements that do not clearly advance free-market principles, organizations that focus on social issues, or organizations that have a focus outside of the United States. We are not a job board. )

Talent Market believes that the road to prosperity is paved with freedom and that the success of our movement hinges on the talent that will take us there.
