Job Description
PRI is seeking a full-time Development and Events Coordinator for its development team. The Development and Events Coordinator is a key part of the organization and is responsible for supporting PRI’s Development Department in various functions. The position will perform duties related to PRI’s fundraising efforts and events, including managing the processing of donations and acknowledgments; maintaining PRI’s donor database; preparing donor welcome kits and other mailings; and assisting with the planning, organization, promotion, and facilitation of all PRI events. The position will also assist with occasional office administration tasks for our Pasadena location. The Development and Events Coordinator must have a positive and professional mindset and be able to multi-task, follow direction, and embrace change.
This is a full-time position based in Pasadena, CA, and will report to the Vice President of Development. Occasional travel is required. PRI is an equal opportunity employer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the execution of regular fundraising and solicitation programs
- Manage PRI’s donor database to ensure it is updated regularly
- Process and reconcile contributions and event ticket sales with the accounting department
- Monitor, code, and track grants/contributions in the donor database
- Maintain electronic files of grants and donor communication
- Manage gift acknowledgment letters for donors
- Assist with coordinating and reporting on mailing programs
- Assist with researching new and prospective donors
- Initiate and coordinate efforts to promote PRI events via email, newspaper ads, phone calls, Twitter, Facebook, and any other relevant social media platforms
- Assist with managing on-site production and clean-up for events
- Assist Events Consultant with preparing nametags, development and marketing materials, registration lists, seating cards, and other material for events
- Assist where necessary, with various operational and administrative tasks in PRI’s Pasadena office, including ordering supplies and troubleshooting basic IT issues
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in development, fundraising, event coordination, or donor relations
- Internship experience will also be considered
- Strong understanding of and commitment to free-market principles
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional academic credentials
- Highly motivated, strong work ethic, personal initiative, and hands-on approach
- Ability to balance multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
- A deep understanding of and demonstrated commitment to classical liberal economics and values
- Experience in working with databases (Raiser’s Edge experience is a plus)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to take personal ownership of assignments
- Exceptional work ethic
- BA/BS degree required in the area of nonprofit management or fundraising, public policy, economics, or related field; a graduate degree a plus
Other Desired Skills
- Working knowledge of current California and federal policy issues, politics, and legislative processes
- Familiarity with PRI’s recent state and national policy research
Total Compensation Package
- Depending on the candidate’s experience level and other qualifiers, the range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000
