About the Role:

The Daily Caller News Foundation is seeking a Senior Editor to join our Washington, D.C. newsroom. This in-person role pays $65,000–$95,000, depending on experience.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience at a right-of-center media outlet and a strong background editing reporters on breaking news and beat coverage. The Senior Editor will work closely with reporters to refine pitches, edit copy on deadline, and ensure accuracy, clarity, and impact. A deep understanding of a wide range of policy areas and close attention to the daily news cycle are essential. This position requires versatility, sound editorial judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom.

This is an in-office role based in Washington, DC. The Senior Editor will report to the President and have up to 5 direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead coverage by editing breaking news stories and beat reporting with speed, accuracy, and clarity
  • Review and guide reporters’ daily pitches, shaping coverage priorities and strategy
  • Provide leadership in the newsroom, setting editorial standards and mentoring reporters
  • Collaborate with other editors and senior leadership to identify and execute investigative opportunities
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across all published content
  • Stay on top of the news cycle and ensure timely, relevant reporting

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of editorial experience, preferably at a right-of-center media outlet
  • Proven track record editing reporters covering politics, policy, and national issues
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide, mentor, and inspire reporters
  • Excellent judgment, balancing speed and accuracy under deadline pressure
  • Deep understanding of a wide range of policy areas and the current news environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative newsroom environment
