Philanthropy Roundtable seeks a Senior Director of Strategic Engagement to grow relationships with our most generous investors and prospective donors. They will contribute to the Roundtable’s growth in three key areas: (1) cultivate relationships with donors and prospects that result in five- and six-figure gifts; (2) apply their experience, creativity, and knowledge of our donor network to guide strategy and drive revenue growth; and (3) increase our internal understanding of donors’ and prospects’ priorities to maximize the value and effectiveness of the Roundtable’s world-class events, programs, services, and communications. In addition to demonstrated success in major-gift fundraising and development strategy, the successful candidate must exhibit strong interpersonal skills, intellectual acumen, emotional intelligence, and integrity and excel at communication and collaboration. They will have at least an undergraduate degree, five to ten years of proven results securing major gifts, and an understanding of our donor network and the liberty movement more broadly.
The Senior Director of Strategic Engagement reports to the Vice President of Development.
The Senior Director of Strategic Engagement will work from the Roundtable’s Washington, D.C. office or from a virtual office elsewhere in the country with quarterly travel to our nation’s capital.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain a portfolio of approximately 100 active and prospective major donors for cultivation individually and/or in collaboration with the Roundtable’s leadership.
- Create and implement a moves management plan for each donor and prospect, including making regular contact and meetings (online and in-person).
- Solicit and consistently close five- and six-figure gifts to meet revenue goals.
- Make a significant contribution to overall development strategy and planning, including executive-level move management plans and revenue growth.
- Gather and share information about the philanthropic priorities of active and prospective donors across internal teams to maximize participation in the Roundtable’s world-class events, programs, services, and communications.
- Provide input, as needed, on donor proposals and other deliverables for the best overall results.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records on all active and prospective donors.
- Track, assess, and report on fundraising metrics throughout the fiscal year.
Requirements of the role include:
- Understand and support Philanthropy Roundtable’s vision and mission.
- A successful track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts for at least five years.
- Strong interpersonal skills, intellectual acumen, and emotional intelligence.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Clearly and compellingly articulate the Roundtable’s program objectives, activities, and future plans to active and prospective donors.
- Apply intellectual acumen and creativity to development and revenue strategies.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and a commitment to confidentiality.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and motivated to perform at a high level.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Strong research and computer skills, including MS Office, Outlook, and Salesforce or similar CRM database.
- Willingness to travel a significant portion of the time (estimated travel: 25-30%)
- Undergo and pass a personal background check.
Compensation
The target salary range for this position is $140k – $185k annually. The salary offered to a candidate will depend on skills and experience.
