About the Role:
Philanthropy Roundtable is seeking a Director of Content Strategy to lead the content creation and production strategy to support our community building, donor engagement and policy advocacy efforts.
The Director of Content Strategy will work alongside our Senior Director of Communications to spearhead the organization’s comprehensive content strategy and own the production process for our print and digital product offerings. This position will develop, implement and gauge the effectiveness of the Roundtable’s content strategy and outreach tools to support donor and external engagement. They will also be an essential cross-functional team player, understanding the needs of the Roundtable’s departments to ensure our capabilities support their objectives.
The Director of Content Strategy will work from Philanthropy Roundtable’s Washington, DC office at least three days a week.
Responsibilities:
Content Strategy and Engagement
- Lead strategic content planning and development designed to anticipate and respond to audience interests and behavior. Own and execute comprehensive content calendar and strategy across multiple formats and departments.
- Consult closely with other departments to identify creative solutions and tools needed to achieve the goals of the organization, specifically related to community building and engagement.
- Serve as a strong and informed content lead to oversee messaging and the quality of the Roundtable’s products.
Product Development
- End-to-end project management, execution and reporting on high-profile Roundtable products including the production of Roundtable policy and donor education resources.
- Propose and design processes across teams to measure engagement and gauge donor interest in our work to inform org-wide product development and content strategies.
- Regularly audit the efficacy of our products, proposing ideas and strategies to improve engagement of target audiences.
Team Leadership:
- Results-oriented. Client-focused. Own outcomes, not tasks.
- Manage and coach junior team members, providing supervision, mentorship and growth opportunities.
- Manage vendor relationships and proactively look for new, innovative talent and platforms to serve our goals.
Basic Qualifications:
- At least 7 years of experience in communications or content strategy with demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience, including management experience with creative teams and vendors.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong command of content management systems, project management systems and customer relationship management systems, including Salesforce, WordPress and email marketing platforms.
- Highly analytic mind able to bring together different quantitative and qualitative sets of data to develop and communicate sophisticated audience insights that inform content strategy development.
- Confident in developing and communicating the ROI of different strategies, platforms and initiatives to senior leaders in an organization.
- Creativity and attention to detail to contribute to the content development process for digital mediums.
- Steady and confident interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work across departments and senior staff.
- Proven track record successfully leading projects from initiative to completion on time, on budget, achieving measurable ROI.
- Willing and able to work in our D.C. headquarters at least three days per week.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading the design, testing, production and execution of messaging campaigns or product development initiatives.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
Compensation
The projected salary range for this role is $100,000-$110,000. This salary is contingent upon the specific experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
