About the American Conservation Coalition:
The American Conservation Coalition is changing the narrative on environmental discussions through the promotion of free-market and pro-business environmentalism in legislatures, college campuses, the political arena, and beyond.
About the Role:
As Utah State Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing ACC’s mission by providing on-the-ground support to our Utah state-based project. You will lead efforts to expand membership, establish and support branches, organize engaging events, and be a point of contact for ACC’s partners in the state.
The Utah State Director reports to the Vice President of Grassroots and can work virtually from anywhere within Utah. This is a full-time, exempt position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on management and support to the Utah State Project, spearheading expansion efforts through membership recruitment, branch development, partner engagement, and other opportunities.
- Establish new branches and support existing branches.
- Develop and organize branch events.
- Organize recruitment efforts on the ground and on social media.
- Monitor and support branch social media.
- Provide feedback and ideas from members to the Vice President of Grassroots.
- Attend staff calls, membership calls, and department calls.
- Connect grassroots members with advocacy opportunities at the state level.
- Lead during legislator meetings and represent ACC’s mission to policymakers in the state.
- Engage with and maintain a strong interest in Utah’s key policy priorities, such as Energy Abundance, Great Salt Lake conservation, and related state-specific initiatives.
- Organize mobilization days for ACC’s base of engaged volunteers in the state.
- Engage with members on the ACC Membership Portal.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in grassroots organizing, community outreach, or related fields. Campaign or political interest preferred.
- Utah-based or willing to relocate. Relocation expenses will not be covered.
- Comfort working in political spaces, including with conservative audiences and organizations.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to support branches and participate in events. This includes areas like Salt Lake City, Logan, Provo, and St. George.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Compensation & Benefits:
- ACC offers a generous benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits, parental leave, and unlimited paid time off. ACC covers 70% of the medical, dental, and vision premiums for employees and coverage is available after 30 days of employment.
- The salary range for this role is $55,000-$65,000 per year based on experience. Performance-based bonuses are available.
