Students For Liberty is the largest pro-liberty student organization in the world, with volunteers active in 127 countries on every inhabited continent. With a multimillion-dollar budget and more than 80 full-time staff, we find the top pro-liberty students and empower them to become agents of change in their communities. Last school year, our students organized over 3,700 events with more than 221,000 people in attendance. We are a fully virtual, entrepreneurial organization with a team in the U.S. and around the world.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Director of Programs Growth to oversee our program team. This is a full-time, fully remote role reporting to the Senior Director of Global Programs and Foundations. Four global programs and their leaders report to this role. We are looking for a leader who can integrate these highly successful programs into a coherent and sustainable strategy while bringing established program disciplines to the SFL culture.

SFL is a global leadership pipeline, and we are expanding our depth and reach globally, first as students and again as alumni. Our goal is to build sustainable structures around the world that produce and strengthen this pipeline and ultimately create a global network. We have seen this emerge organically in some cases. Your job is to build it intentionally.

The Director of Programs Growth is someone who has demonstrated the ability to build collaborative, action-driven spaces: a cohort, an incubator, an accelerator, a fellowship, a venture studio, or a room you designed where the people who entered left with a working project or organization.

We want that capability pointed at pro-liberty students and alumni in 127 countries. If you want a network of 10,000 alumni to stop being a mailing list and start being a pipeline of built things, this is the job.

A successful candidate will bring a firm commitment to classical-liberal ideas and to SFL’s vision and mission. You can be based anywhere in the world, and the role involves several international trips a year.

What You Will Own

Originate and accelerate: Turn interest into built things. You design the rooms: selection, framing, mentor matching, milestones, and demo day. You run them and then teach other people to run them without you. You own the method that carries a student coordinator or an alumnus from a vague interest to a scoped project with a real result, and the labs that teach that method in the regions. What comes out of it is a pipeline of student-led and alumni-led work strong enough to put in front of a donor.

Harmonize: Create one SFL standard, one student journey, one app, so that a student in Nairobi and a student in São Paulo get the same SFL experience. You own the global program standard: what a student should be able to do by the end, what every program must deliver, and the journey template each region maps its programs against.

Maximize: Get everything possible out of the four global programs and keep every promise made to the funders behind them. Those programs are Alumni Programs, Global Performance Department, Human Respect Project, and The Statement Fellowship. You manage the program directors, set and review their yearly targets, carry The Statement Fellowship and the Global Accelerator Program through to funding for each new cohort, run the Human Respect Project as a standard campaign in every region, and keep the student app current.

Deploy: Put the method and the tools in the hands of the people who run the regions. Working alongside the Directors of International and North American Programs, you review each region’s programs against the standard, identify the gaps, determine what to change, and turn what works in one region into a playbook the others can run.

Who We Are Looking For

  • You have at least five years of experience leading programs, preferably within the liberty movement
  • You have run a cohort, incubator, accelerator, fellowship, or venture program where participants left with a working project or organization
  • You built the method as well as ran it: playbooks, trained facilitators, or a curriculum that other people delivered
  • You practice design thinking and project origination as disciplines. Experience with IDEO, the Stanford d.school, Y Combinator, Ashoka, or Atlas Network’s Think Tank Shark Tank counts in your favor
  • You have designed the parts that decide whether a program works: selection, framing, mentor matching, milestones, and a closing showcase
  • You have built an alumni network or fellowship with output beyond attendance, and moved people from networking into joint projects
  • You can look at 10,000 alumni across more than 100 countries and say what that network should become and how to get it there
  • You have driven the adoption of a standard across teams that did not report to you
  • You have managed directors or senior staff, not only coordinators
  • You are at home with evidence, CRMs, dashboards, and measurement systems; owning a digital product roadmap is a plus
  • You have strong written and spoken English skills
  • You bring ownership, humility, professionalism, and an entrepreneurial attitude

Compensation

The anticipated annual salary range for this role is $80,000 to $90,000, depending on experience and skills.
