The Policy Circle informs and equips women to be more effective and impactful civic leaders. They do this through a variety of programs that educate members on the impact of public policy and highlight specific ways that women can take ownership of solutions in their communities rooted in entrepreneurial values, personal responsibility, and innovation.
About the Role
The Policy Circle (TPC) is looking for a full-time Policy Brief Editor who can sift through significant resources and data to identify key points, clarify complex topics, and provide balanced resources for our diverse community. As TPC curates and aggregates from a wide range of sources, this candidate must be an organized, systems thinker, with at least two years of experience in all stages of research, drafting, and editing of policy-oriented projects. The ideal candidate is a collaborator – comfortable receiving, prioritizing, and incorporating feedback from experts, members, and fellow teammates. Their ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously will be critical to the success of this role as well.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and track and analyze legislation, news, and content related to TPC’s Policy Brief Library
- Collaborate with the Director of Education & Experiences to draft 8-10 new Policy Briefs, Deep Dives, and Resource Guides per year
- Update existing Policy Circle Briefs on a systematic basis
- Oversee 1-2 Policy Fellows that assist with updates and research
- Conduct research to identify key policy challenges and then highlight innovative solutions rooted in free-market principles, entrepreneurship, and personal agency (e.g. nonprofits, local businesses, public/private partnerships)
- Attend and participate in team meetings (virtual and/or in-person) and other events related to federal, state, and local policy
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience with or knowledge of public policy, economics, or government or in a substantive writing/research role
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to bring clarity to complex topics
- Highly efficient in time management and able to meet deadlines under pressure
- Ability to collect, synthesize, prioritize, and process information quickly and with accuracy
- Possess a keen interest and curiosity in policy research and analysis affecting Americans
- Agreement with and enthusiasm for The Policy Circle Mission & Core Values
- Keep up to date on relevant news related to US policy
- Proficiency with G-Suite applications and a willingness to learn new technologies
- Bachelor’s degree – graduate degree is a plus
Salary and Benefits
- $5,500 – $6,000 per month
- 35-40 hours a week
