Horatio Alger Members support promising young people with the resources and confidence needed to overcome adversity in pursuit of their version of the American Dream through higher education. Through the generosity of its Members and friends, the Association annually awards $18 million in need-based scholarships to more than 1,800 students across the United States and Canada. The Association also provides services to enable its Scholars to succeed personally, academically and professionally. Core Functions
The Educational Data Coordinator will support the data-driven activities of the Association’s educational team. The Coordinator will provide data support for scholarship awarding, disbursement processing, annual reporting, and program delivery.
The Educational Data Coordinator reports to the Sr. Director of Educational Programs. This is an in-person role based in Alexandria, VA.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all Scholar data using the Association’s technology platforms (Salesforce, SmarterSelect, Form Assembly, etc.)
- Responsible for data management of Scholar records within Salesforce, ensuring that information is accurate and can be utilized for timely reporting analysis
- Develop and maintain standard queries, reports, and importing/exporting protocols to support educational activities
- Conduct regular data audits to identify and rectify inconsistencies or errors
- Consistently interpret data to evaluate Scholar engagement, understand program impact, and identify opportunities for increased support
- Work closely with the education team to create customized reports and data analytics.
- Assist with Scholar disbursement process:
- Update returned/voided check information into Salesforce and create Scholar cases as needed based on supplied information
- Assist with Scholar probation/forfeiture process
- Assist with update of request forms as necessary
- Provide additional administrative support regarding transcript and financial aid tracking
- Track scholarship payments and follow up with colleges/universities as needed
- Assist with uploading Scholar enrollment data and graduation records
- Assist with Scholar awarding process:
- Assist with annual document/form creation in support of scholarship awarding using Form Assembly and Word
- Import all awardee information into Salesforce
- Assist with specialized scholarship program processing
- Oversee production of Our Impact publication and produce annual educational reports
- Support programmatic priorities of Sr. Director of Educational and Alumni Programs
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures with details of the process, timelines, sample forms and materials
- Represent the Association at professional meetings and events, as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Salesforce or other database software
- Familiarity with the educational landscape is a plus
- Alignment with and excitement for the mission of the Horatio Alger Association
- Ability to travel approximately 5%
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Proactive problem-solving abilities
- Ability to quickly adapt to new technology and systems
Compensation
The projected salary range for this role is $70,000-$80,000. This salary is contingent upon the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.
