About the Position
CEI seeks a Manager to execute Foundation and Policy Grants for an experienced development team. This position also carries critically important administrative/support functions. It is most suitable for an individual with 0-4 years of experience in fundraising and may be suitable for an individual with a policy background since writing is a key component of this position. Telecommuting is not offered, nor are relocation expenses. Expected travel is once per year outside of metro Washington, D.C.
There is opportunity for growth in this position, with respect to greater autonomy in managing the foundation portfolio, and also the potential for carrying a future mid-level donor portfolio.
30 percent: Assisting back-office administrative processes for the department. Training will be provided for these financial processes which include:
- Donor receipts
- Data entry in Salesforce
- Financial reporting
- Maintenance of state registration
70 percent: Managing a forward-looking foundation and grant proposal process. This will include:
- Primary responsibility for writing proposals
- Proposal/grant calendar management
- Determining when and where to send letters of inquiry (LOIs) for new grants
- On-time delivery of foundation and grant proposals
- 0-4 years of experience in fundraising (internships may be considered relevant experience)
- Experience with database management a plus

- Flexible. You easily maintain a positive, flexible attitude if priorities shift.
- Aligned. Politically a libertarian or conservative and can discuss your philosophical alignment with CEIs mission and vision, particularly related to energy, regulatory policy, and free market economics.
