About the Position
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Editor/Journalist to join our team in the office in Plymouth, Minnesota. This position plays a crucial part in our mission to deliver high-quality news content to our audience. They are responsible for crafting compelling stories, editing articles, and ensuring that our news coverage meets the highest journalistic standards.
This role operates within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be ready and willing to provide assistance to the team and adeptly resolve challenges as they arise.
This role is ideal for someone with writing/editing experience or who is entry-level and eager to learn on the job. We offer comprehensive on-the-job training.
The projected salary range for this role is $40,000-55,000, contingent upon the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate. We are also willing to explore higher compensation for an exceptional candidate or a lower range for a promising, less experienced candidate.
Responsibilities

- Write 1-2 engaging and informative articles per day
- Editing and proofreading articles when necessary
- Collaborate in managing our social media channels
- Composing and sending occasional fundraising letters
- Support the daily creation and distribution of newsletters
Requirements

- 0+ years of experience required
- Willingness and capacity to occasionally travel away from the office to cover stories and/or conduct interviews
- Philosophical alignment with and passion for the mission of Alpha News
- Peerless editing skills
- Strong command of grammar
- Extreme attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of current events in Minnesota
- Open to working occasional nights and weekends
- Open to trying new things
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Experience in WordPress is a plus
