About the Role
The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for the implementation, management, and evaluation of fundraising efforts including but not limited to: stewardship, cultivation and acquisition of donors, meeting fundraising goals set by the President, and attending special events.
This position reports to CCHF’s President. The right person in this position may have an opportunity to grow a development team and find opportunities for advancement. The ideal candidate will be based in St. Paul, MN. Candidates located in the Greater Twin Cities Metro Area who are able to work from the office 1-2 days/week will also be considered. Some travel may be required (5-25%, depending on location).
Major Duties and Responsibilities: (75-80%)
- With the President, create fundraising goals, including strategies for major donor giving and annual fundraising event giving
- Develop donor-specific plans for increased giving
- Meet fundraising goals as set forth by the President
- Solicit sponsorships and donors for event(s)
- Work to build relationships with current identified prospects and work to transform prospects into donors
- Develop and implement a donor communications plan (including emails, writings for the quarterly newsletter, and phone calls)
- Coordinating response to donors (using the weekly donation report).
- Acknowledge gifts, discuss programs, and inform donors of CCHF’s successes.
- Work with the President on developing quarterly fundraising letters
- Set up meetings with prospects or donors with the President
- Track outcomes and deliver reports weekly on fundraising progress and expenditures
Other Duties and Responsibilities: (20-25%)
- Enter detailed donor or prospect information and notes into database
- Write quarterly one-page letter to accompany tax receipts to donors
- Participate in staff meetings and special projects including but not limited to quarterly newsletters, event planning, and strategy sessions
- Write grant application letters
- Other tasks as assigned by the President
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Commitment to health freedom principles
- 2+ years of fundraising, development or donor relations experience
- Passion for building relationships
- High degree of comfort in soliciting and closing gifts
- Ability to articulate and implement a strategic development plan
- Excellent skills in verbal and written communication
- A belief in projecting professionalism at all times
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple demands
- Highly organized with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as needed
- Eagerness to work as part of a team and assist with additional tasks as needed
- Willingness to travel (5-25%)
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience in Health Care (to be able to speak with donors about our mission)
- Experience using a donor database / CRM
- General knowledge of government structure and legislative/policy processes
- Proven record of creating development strategy and meeting goals
