Broadcast Production Coordinator – Ocean State Current, Rhode Island Center for Freedom and Prosperity – Virtual Office

January 17, 2023

About the Organization

The Ocean State Current is the Rhode Island’s fastest growing all-digital ‘news and views’ source, and is the media arm of the nonprofit organization, the nonpartisan Rhode Island Center for Freedom and Prosperity, the Ocean State’s only free-market think tank.

About the Role

The Ocean State Current is seeking to hire a Broadcast Production Coordinator to manage and enhance the pre, live, and post-production and broadcast of all web-based video and audio content.

The long-term vision is for the OceanStateCurrent.com/LIVE page to be transitioned to a platform akin to a television or radio “channel,” where a variety of shows can be accessed in a continually expanding regular schedule. This includes the establishment of Ocean State Current Radio, where fully interactive web-based talk-radio-type shows can be hosted by 3rd party hosts.

This full-time position, which can be based either in-state or remote, will report to the CEO, with dotted-line reporting also to the Communications Director. The overall goal of the position is to enhance the production and broadcast quality, reliability, and efficiency, as well as to aide in packaging and promoting all original and post-produced digital content. This person will be measured in how well and often they can produce content. There are little to no travel requirements for the role.

Specific duties Include

  • Produce all live content, continually seeking new tools to enhance quality and efficiency
  • Implement consistent branding templates for each specific show and regular guest
  • Produce cut-up pieces and post to OSC website and/or other content media platforms, then promote on social media
  • Establish and manage the process for LIVE view-in/call-in interactions with video/audio hosts
  • Establish and manage an appropriately branded and easy-to-use process for 3rd party content providers to submit video or audio pieces
  • Develop and execute a fully- or semi-automated process to schedule pre-taped content for broadcast on the LIVE channel; manage online content guides
  • Produce some cut-up pieces and other content, specifically purposed as ‘premium content’, to be exclusively offered as part of The Current’s “Cruise Memberships”
  • Manage communications, scheduling, and content promotion with booked guests and content providers

Experience required

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience with web-based video and/or audio streaming with multiple 3rd-party platforms
  • Strong ideological alignment with and passion for the mission of the Rhode Island Center for Freedom and Prosperity
  • Must have video and audio production and editing experience
  • Should have a deep working knowledge of Zoom and Rumble, or identify more effective video meeting and web-broadcast tools
  • Should be familiar with OBS (Open Broadcast Software)
  • Prefer advanced social media experience across multiple platforms
  • At least 1-2 years of involvement, professionally or as a volunteer, in the ‘freedom movement’ strongly preferred
  • Equipment, Internet, and editing tools required to edit high-definition video and audio files as well as an internet connection that will support high-bandwidth transmission … TBD based on candidate’s set up.

How To Apply

Qualified candidates should submit the following application materials in one PDF document:

  • Resume
  • Cover letter detailing your interest in the position and your salary requirements

Applications should be submitted to Talent Market via this link: talentmarket.org/apply-for-your-dream-job/.
