The Opportunity
The Community Manager will manage and cultivate the social media presence of Americans for Fair Treatment. They live and breathe social media and actively participate in community development and management, social bookmarking, commenting, and other engagement and are always on the lookout for new ways to connect with our members and potential new members.
The ideal candidate is a tech-savvy professional who has experience in social media. They have exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop engaging and unique content. You should be a ‘people person’ with great customer service skills. You should also possess the ability to moderate community conversations.
Ultimately, you will act as the voice of our social media brand and the management of online community communication. An understanding of public-sector unions and free-market public policy solutions is a plus but not a requirement.
The Community Manager will report to the Senior Communications Director. This role is virtual, but candidates do have the option to work from AFFT’s Harrisburg, PA office.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Content Calendars for all social communities, including writing Tweets and other social posts, and managing image and video assets
- Interact with users to foster a positive community experience
- Utilize social media management tools like Sprinklr and TweetDeck to respond to user comments and posts
- Keep up to date on social and content best practices
- Work with the larger Communications team to create overarching brand and social strategies
- Assist the communications and organizing department with campaigns
Qualifications
- Understand and support AFFT’s mission and values
- At least 1-2 years of experience managing social media platforms or communities for a nonprofit, corporation, or agency; candidates without professional social media experience who have built a strong personal brand on social media will also be considered; internships may be considered experience
- Experience publishing for a brand and responding to comments and questions across social media platforms
- Experience using Canva to create social graphics
- Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
- Capable of working in a fast-paced virtual environment
- Strong attention to detail
- A good sense of humor!
