FGA works with state leaders across the nation to advance positive health care, welfare and job creation reforms, and to stop policies that grow the welfare state at the expense of families and taxpayers. In just the past two years, 34 states have implemented FGA model reforms that will result in 4.5 million people escaping the welfare trap over the next three years.
This success has led to new opportunities at both the state and federal level, thus the need to add a dynamic new expert to our world-class team of policy leaders. Expanding our team will allow us to help millions more Americans move from welfare to work and the hope of a better life.
The Government Affairs Director’s role will be to manage a portfolio of 10-15 states where we hope to advance FGA’s proven reforms. Within those states, he or she will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to turn FGA ideas into laws, whether through the legislative process or working directly with the executive branch. In some states, the Director will manage on-the-ground teams of public affairs experts to help achieve policy wins. The exact make-up of the states in the portfolio will be determined based on the successful candidate’s location and experience.
This role is newly created, and is part of a State Affairs team of three Government Affairs Directors, who collectively manage all the states with FGA activity. The Directors coordinate with FGA’s research, policy and marketing teams to ensure FGA’s resources are focused on high-value opportunities in the states.
