IT/Web Fellow – Maine Heritage Policy Center – Portland, ME
The Maine Heritage Policy Center seeks an IT/Web Fellow to oversee the development of a network of web sites and outreach and advocacy tools. The candidate will work for the Center as part of the Center for Open Government, as well as engage in co-development projects with partner nonprofits. As outlined below, the successful candidate has a full array of technological projects to develop during this 12-month fellowship.
This role will be located in our Portland, Maine office. The IT/Web Fellow will be a fulltime position.
Qualified applicant must excel at:
- Coordinating and managing web site and software development from a variety of vendors
- Balancing varying priorities of multiple competencies including graphic design, messaging, content development, and human factors
- Coding skills that apply to modern or “now” software and hardware applications
- Having excellent communication skills (can translate “geek speak” to English)
- Having a deep understanding of online promotional and social networking environments and how they support the overall program
- Showing a willingness to incorporate development methodology into the development process
The Maine Heritage Policy Center has proven itself very innovative and effective to date with only limited technology usage. With an IT/Web Fellow we can more effectively harness technology to exponentially maximize our outreach and advocacy efforts.
The productivity goals for the IT/Web Fellow would be to complete at least three of the nine possible projects (which will be explained to finalists) within the first six months and six within the first year.
