Grants Manager – DonorsTrust – Alexandria, VA

In 2009, DonorsTrust disbursed more than 1,300 grants totaling over $70 million. The Trust is seeking a Grants Manager to oversee their grantmaking process, which entails some interaction with grantee organizations and donors. 

Grants management responsibilities may include:

• Maintaining database of detailed information on nonprofit organizations, as well as a paperless filing system
• Processing/coordinating grant requests, including:
  • Reviewing charity status and obtaining grants committee approval when necessary
  • Overseeing account transfers and check writing
  • Producing grant letters and other correspondence
• Serving as point of contact/liaison between DonorsTrust and grantee organizations

 Other responsibilities may include:

• Setting up new charitable accounts
• Processing contributions, updating database, and generating correspondence with donors and grantee organizations
• Generating reports associated with client account activity
• Assisting with quarterly reporting process

The ideal Grants Manager will have the following attributes:

• 3-5 years of experience 
• Experience working in accounting, bookkeeping, or banking (highly preferred but not required)
• In-depth knowledge of Excel, including developing and maintaining detailed spreadsheets
• Strong organizational skills with an innate attention to detail
• Bachelor’s degree
• Understanding of and commitment to the principles of a free society
