Pacific Research Institute (PRI) was established in 1979 as a non-profit, non-partisan organization which champions freedom, opportunity, and personal responsibility by advancing, through robust research and various communications platforms, free-market policy reforms in health care, education, the environment, and the economy.
The Director of Events & the Young Leaders Circle position is responsible for planning and executing up to 10 cultivation and stewardship events annually throughout California and, very occasionally, out of state, for PRI donors and prospects. Beyond that, a majority of the Director’s time will be spent building relationships with current and prospective Young Leaders Circle members as well as creating and directing monthly policy-cum-cultural events within budget to attract and retain YLC members.
The Director will work with the Development and Communications teams to produce these events. The Director will be expected to take the lead on realizing PRI’s two Galas and smaller membership events and to “own” the YLC in order to keep this new program healthy and growing. The position comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility, but the right person will demonstrate that he/she can work effectively and productively, thereby earning a relatively high degree of autonomy.
Applicants should have at least 5 years of work experience and be able to articulate how their past experience has prepared them for the Director position. Organizational, planning, communications, relationship-building, team-oriented skills are necessary, and an upbeat attitude and willingness to work hard are essential. Experience with database systems like Blackbaud NxT, Etapestry, Raiser’s Edge is important. A bachelor’s degree and a belief in free markets are required. Being a Bay Area resident is a plus; relocation fees will not be covered. Salary is commensurate with experience. Full health insurance, 401(k) plan, FSA, and local travel reimbursement are offered.
