Director of Advancement and Marketing – Kansas Policy Institute – Wichita, KS
Kansas Policy Institute (www.kansaspolicy.org), based in Wichita, is seeking a fundraising professional for the position of Director of Advancement and Marketing. The of Director of Advancement and Marketing will oversee all fundraising and marketing efforts of the Kansas Policy Institute (KPI).
Duties for this role will include but are not limited to:
- Developing and managing the fundraising strategy for KPI, including goal-setting
- Working closely with the president to implement the fundraising strategy
- Cultivating donor relationships through in-person visits, phone calls, and correspondence
- Planning and coordinating donor events and other special events
- Creating communications materials including brochures, annual reports, news release, newsletters, board orientation manuals, direct marketing and other publications
- Writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals
- Managing media relations
- Preparing and sending weekly e-newsletter to donors and other KPI supporters
- Writing web copy and updating other website content
- Designing various publications
- Maintaining donor database with current information on all donors and prospects, including gifts
- Perform donor research, including identifying donor prospects
- Research the possibility of a planned giving program for KPI
- Oversee the development and execution of solicitation campaigns, including direct mail
Qualified candidates will have:
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience in individual donor, foundation, and/or corporate development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Extensive knowledge of internet marketing techniques including new media and social networking
- Knowledge of web site management
- A high sense of urgency
- Enthusiasm for our mission
- Bachelor’s degree (degree in marketing, public relations, communications or business preferred)
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access
- Excellent oral persuasion and personal relationship skills
