About the Benjamin Rush Institute
The Benjamin Rush Institute (BRI) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working with medical students and professionals to protect the doctor-patient relationship and preserve healthcare freedom. Since 2009, BRI has inspired thousands of medical students and healthcare professionals about alternative, free enterprise solutions to healthcare challenges and ensured that these groups are equipped to articulate and advance these solutions in public debate. BRI accomplishes its mission through chapters and affiliates at medical schools that host debates, educational lectures, and other events. BRI helps equip students and professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to be effective ambassadors for freedom in medicine.
BRI is seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead the organization’s fundraising, administrative, programmatic, and communications/marketing operations. This would include implementing BRI’s strategic development plan; meeting with donors and donor prospects to reach BRI’s revenue goals; working with medical students and administrators in forming BRI chapters; working with BRI students to develop, plan, and execute successful programs; promoting BRI to medical students and other organizations; and overseeing administrative tasks associated with running a nonprofit organization. The Executive Director will work closely with BRI’s Board of Directors and be assisted by a part-time Programs and Marketing Consultant, student interns, and consultants for fundraising (American Philanthropic) and accounting. The Executive Director will also have the benefit of partnering closely with the outgoing Executive Director who plans to remain active with the organization in a programmatic role after her replacement is found.
With the renewed national focus on healthcare policy, BRI is poised to help more students and professionals understand how protecting the doctor-patient relationship can enhance healthcare results for patients., wider-reaching level on medical school campuses and within the medical profession.
